Guess what? Rush Limbaugh is talking out his backside again! I know you will be shocked to hear the news, but it's true. Rush wrapped himself up in the flag and turned his solemn eyes to Heaven and rattled on about his "shock and disappointment" at the existence of abortion. It's almost embarrassing to watch, at this point.
The first thing you will note is that Rush Limbaugh is not a woman. Nor has he ever had children. Has he ever been in a position where his female partner had to make the difficult decision to abort a pregnancy? I don't know. No one knows. Or if they know, they aren't talking.
Rush Limbaugh's history is so carefully groomed, you could hardly believe it. It's entirely possible that he has had to go through this terrible thing himself, but he still turns around and decries it on the radio. He's done it before with drug abuse, and he does it still with weight loss.
In Rush Limbaugh's world, women cannot win. If a woman has an abortion, she's "sucking out a baby." Worse, she is kowtowing to the Democratic elite, who "want the government to continue killing babies." That's right - because this is such a clear-cut issue, and the people on the other side of it are malevolent evildoers rubbing their hands together in baby-killing glee. How could the truth be anything else?
But if a woman doesn't have an abortion, how is she supposed to bring a baby to term if she doesn't have health care? Rush wants to shut down Planned Parenthood, so there goes the most significant source of prenatal care for underprivileged women. And it's not like Rush is willing to fund, you know, universal health care. (That's the devil's work!)
Rush Limbaugh has no idea how expensive it is to have a baby. And he doesn't care. He definitely doesn't care about poor black women, despite his protestations to the contrary.
If he did care about black women living below the poverty level, it might occur to him that having a baby is a great way to stay there. A baby is ridiculously expensive, even if all you do is bring it to term and then give it up for adoption. How can you keep working your entry level job when you're eight months pregnant? Well, you can't. Hello, welfare!
Oh, but Rush hates welfare. It's giving people a hand-out. They will become dependent! It only enables them!
So what are these women supposed to do? They are disproportionately single, without the support of the father. They have no resources, and only the tiniest shot at clawing their way above the poverty level. Well, Rush doesn't care about that. He only cares about pushing his privileged white male agenda, regardless of who it hurts.
Rush Limbaugh cares more about the "life" of a blastocyst than he does of an adult woman trying to make the best out of her life. Make a note of it: according to Rush, we are just baby factories.
