Limbaugh's stance on climate change has always been "I don't believe it because I don't believe it."
Media watchdog organization Media Matters has nominated Rush Limbaugh their "Climate Change Misinformer of the Year." This is an excellent title, because it points out that Limbaugh doesn't just DENY the existence of climate change. He actively MISINFORMS his audience about it.Limbaugh's stance on climate change has always been "I don't believe it because I don't believe it." He has never had any data on his side, just a firm conviction that everyone else is wrong, regardless of their qualifications or the information that they bring to the table.
Everything else about Limbaugh's opinion on climate change stems from this. In other words, it doesn't really matter what he says, because he's just trying to shore up his opinion. Nothing makes you look like the smartest guy in the room like dismissing "so-called experts" with a derisive huff, and Rush Limbaugh has perfected this move to a T.
Too bad it's useless, and we are all doomed because of it.
Limbaugh's main claim for knowing that climate change is a hoax is by looking at "who's behind it." Apparently if a Liberal told Rush Limbaugh that his house was on fire, Limbaugh would snort and slam the door in his face, and die in a fire. Because nothing that liberals say can, according to Rush Limbaugh, be trusted.
One wonders if he ever thinks about the Golden Rule here. Does he ever wish that there were people who didn't believe that "everything conservatives say is a lie"? Does he sometimes wish for a world in which we accepted each other as human beings with thoughts and feelings and opinions that happened to be different from ours? A world where we could listen to each other respectfully, and treat information as a neutral fact, not a commodity on the political stock market?
As if! Rush prefers to just call all the climatology science "bogus" and "bunk" and "a lie," for no real reason other than because he can. There is literally no way to convince Rush Limbaugh that climate change is real, the same way that there is no way to convince a religious person that God does not exist. Just like religion, Limbaugh's beliefs are based on faith, not fact. He might as well be accusing Satan of manufacturing climate change as "liberal scientists," for all the information he has to back up his beliefs.
Unfortunately, he's making us all look bad. America's retrograde "opinions" on climate change are making us the mockery of the world. Thanks, Rush, for making us all look that much dumber.
