Rush <3s Sarah Palin
Rush Hearts SarahHave you ever wondered, at this late stage of the game, who is going to publicly stand up and defend Sarah Palin? Who is widely recognized as having cost the Right the presidency? Who quit her job halfway through for no apparent good reason? Who has been swaddled in scandal ever since her early days as an Alaskan politician?
The answer: Rush Limbaugh.
Rush stands up on his soapbox to defend Sarah Palin in his latest article, which is about how the Left is going to bash her book "Going Rogue." And he is correct! The Left did bash her book! Because Sarah Palin is a stupid and annoying clown, and no one wants to read her book.
Except Rush Limbaugh.
Rush even portrays Palin's lack of introspection as a bonus. He goes on an extended riff about how the "elites" (his favorite anti-intellectual term - never mind that Rush Limbaugh makes $40 mil a year, that doesn't make him "elite") don't like her because she refuses to talk about her thought process. Because there isn't one! She just decides things! And he is correct: that is part of what everyone hates about her.
Personally, I like a president who thinks about things. And who contemplates plans of action before putting them into motion. I understand that this is not Rush's viewpoint, since he was one of the few remaining people left in the country who was willing to go to bat for George W Bush, even at the end of his presidency, when W's approval rating was dropping perilously near the single digits.
One thing you can't accuse George W of doing is overthinking things.
Rush also takes the Left to task for having made so much noise about fact-checking Palin's book and having found it lacking. Rush claims that six found errors in a whole entire book is negligible. "Thin at best" is his actual phrase. I love how he pooh-poohs the noted errors. I wonder if Barack Obama published a book with six errors, if Rush would brush it off with "is that the best you can do?" Or would he go completely and totally mental? Hm. Let's pretend to ponder that question carefully for a few minutes. Hm.
Rush's pro-Palin screed goes on for thousands and thousands of words. It makes me glad that I can just read the transcripts on his website instead of having to listen to his show. I can't imagine trying to tune in for hours and hours of Rush drooling over how awesome Sarah Palin is.
He even had his people make a cute little Photoshop of himself beside Sarah Palin, in a "Sum of All Fears" parody. Which I guess is supposed to be about how he and Sarah Palin both strike fear into the hearts of Liberals. Which I guess is actually true, but maybe not in the sense Rush imagines it to be.
One thing I will give to Rush Limbaugh over his support of Palin. Clearly his hatred of Hillary Clinton is not entirely due to the fact that she is a woman. (Not entirely.) One gets the impression that Rush would do just about anything to have Sarah Palin rule the country, so he can't be a complete misogynist, can he? I suppose not. Not a complete one, anyway.
