Obama is deliberately trying to destroy America because of slavery. (Crazy!)
Limbaugh has really kicked off 2012 with a bang. The very topic of Barack Obama has had Limbaugh all in a tizzy ever since 2008, but he recently just came right out and said it: Rush Limbaugh believes that Obama is deliberately destroying America as retaliation, due to "his inherent belief that the country was immorally and illegitimately founded by a very small minority of white Europeans who screwed everybody else since the founding to get all the money and the goodies, and it's about time the scales were made even."Let's just leave aside the fact that there is nowhere, no how, not anywhere on this plane of existence, the slightest bit of evidence to this claim. It literally comes straight out of left field, out of the fevered imaginings of Rush Limbaugh's terrified racist brain. Obama has never said or done anything that would even remotely lead a rational person to suspect anything of the sort.
Rush Limbaugh suffers from two problems: the first is his inability to believe that everyone is acting in what they believe is the country's best interests, even if it doesn't jibe with what Limbaugh himself believes. Personally, I have this weird thing where I believe that other people are actually thinking, feeling human beings deserving of respect and understanding, even if they don't agree with me. Not Limbaugh! Unless you are a staunch right-wing Republican, you are deliberately trying to destroy the United States of America, and that is just the way it is.
The second problem is that he cannot believe that a black person could act in good faith. In his heart of hearts, Limbaugh believes that every black person harbors an evil hatred for America, because of slavery. And that America deserves to be punished for it.
If you understand the crazy-ass affluent racist white guy corner that Limbaugh is coming from, it makes total sense that he would believe Obama is trying to ruin America as a sort of latter-day reparations.
The fact that this belief is UTTERLY RIDICULOUS apparently doesn't ping Limbaugh's radar. Not one bit.
There is one possibility which is worse: that Limbaugh doesn't believe this crazy nonsense, but he pretends to believe it in order to cater to his audience. What's worse: being a racist, or saying racist things even though you don't believe them, so that racist people like you?
Regardless, his latest foaming-at-the-mouth diatribes are frankly quite disturbing, in a Turner Diaries sort of way. But sad to say, he's not the only one who believes this racist nonsense, not by a long shot.
