I truly enjoy and respect everything about Rush Limbaugh. Rush is a man who knows what he believes and says what he thinks. Both are critically important not only to his success, but the mental well-being of his listeners. Very seldom does Rush hesitate when expressing his opinion. Indeed, Limbaugh seems to make statements that are intentionally impolitic or insensitive just for the shock factor. I patently do not believe this to be correct.
Listen carefully, Rush simply says what his listeners are thinking. His listeners, who are generally working men and women, cannot say the very things he expouses on public mass media for fear of job loss, lawsuits or smear jobs from liberals.
The beauty of Limbaugh expressing these thoughts for them is that he doesn’t say anything that is untrue or intentionally meant to be hurtful to anyone. He is simply stating the unvarnished truth as he sees it without giving what he says a great deal of thought beforehand. He doesn’t have to think whether it is hurtful because he isn’t in the business of making people feel good by sugarcoating issues.
The format of the Rush Limbaugh Show has not changed since the program began. Rush hosts the program live and every day the conversation becomes thought provoking almost immediately. Rush is excitable and goes back and forth with callers and guests and thus far has not gone “Don Imus” on the air. Once again, if Rush were “acting” or working from “talking points”, he would trip up and make a statement that would put him on the spot with public opinion or the FCC.
True, liberals have created quite a stir over comments regarding his personal life, not his conservative beliefs. The incidents concerning his personal life were not reprehensible acts but still made liberal fodder in liberal media.
Remember, Rush Limbaugh’s unbelievable popularity with conservatives and the deep hatred he instills in liberals, is due to one fact: He says what his listeners only wish they could say.
