It's hard to believe Rush would promote his anti-abortion agenda at the expense of facts, but there you are.
In talking about the Susan G. Komen Foundation/Planned Parenthood dust-up, Rush Limbaugh once again asserted the falsehood that "abortion is a leading cause of breast cancer." It isn't, and even those who once believed that it was, never believed that it was a "leading cause." But since when did Rush Limbaugh ever let the facts get in his way? Since never. The abortion issue is an excellent example of where Limbaugh parts ways from his otherwise staunch Libertarianism and Tea Partyesque Freedom-loving persona. Because Limbaugh believes in personal freedom right up until it involves a woman and her uterus. At that point, Limbaugh will cheerfully allow - nay, demand - the government get involved and legislate things all to here and gone.
When does Rush Limbaugh believe that more legislation and government intervention is better? When it comes to the topic of abortion.
This is a religious issue. But that doesn't stop Rush from trying to trot out so-called facts, particularly when they let him use his favorite slur for women, "Feminazi." Because any female who opposes his opinion, and anyone who defends the rights of women, is of course a Feminazi.
Never mind that you may be making the eminently rational point that there is no link between abortion and breast cancer. You must be a Feminazi! Or at least you are in the pockets of the Feminazi agenda!
There is a very strong link between pregnancy and breast cancer. And it's true that in the 1950s they thought there might be a link between abortion and breast cancer. But you know what? In the 1950s they thought smoking cigarettes was good for your lungs, and that black people shouldn't drink from the same water fountains as white people.
You can tell that the abortion/breast cancer link is a strictly ideological one, by the way. Wanna know how? Because no one has ever put forth a presumed connection between spontaneous miscarriage and breast cancer, that's how. Despite the fact that, according to your uterus, it's the exact same thing.
A lot of flawed studies took place over the years. Nothing new there. But in the last 20 years, huge multi-disciplinary statistical studies which follow the gold standard of research have all shown that there is no link between abortion and the incidence of breast cancer.
(Of course, that's exactly what a Feminazi would say, isn't it?!)
