Rush Limbaugh is outraged that the Susan G. Komen foundation bowed to public pressure and agreed to not revoke funds to Planned Parenthood. Of course, in Rush Limbaugh's mind, Planned Parenhood is the evil puppet master orchestrating all of the public outcry. And they are an abortion factory.

 

Nowhere in Rush Limbaugh's worldview is the idea that regular normal people - i.e. not "Feminazis" - might support Planned Parenthood. Abortions are only a tiny portion of the services that Planned Parenthood provides. They offer affordable breast cancer screening, women's health exams, birth control, and many other services for all women. Planned Parenthood is particularly helpful to low-income women, since they offer their services on a sliding scale.

Interesting, right? Every time Rush Limbaugh opens his yap to start sarcastically blathering on about Obama's latest vacation plans, I am reminded of an interesting statistic: George W. Bush spent more time on vacation than any contemporary president.

 

In his first year in office, Obama spent 26 days on vacation. In their first years as president, Ronald Reagan spent 42 days on vacation. George W. Bush spent a whopping 69 days on vacation during his first year.

I'm prepared to accept that Rush Limbaugh himself may not be a racist person. But as an older white dude from the South, he sure does say a lot of racist things. And his followers, who I am certain are mostly racist, really eat that stuff up with a spoon. (Which is no doubt why he says them in the first place.)

 

This week while discussing the White House menorah-lighting ceremony Rush asked, "What do you think the odds are that Obama got confused between Hanukkah and Kwanzaa?"

 

Let me give you a tip: if you are a white guy from the South, being flippant about black people's religious beliefs and holiday traditions puts you on very thin ground indeed. 

Who says babies deserve all these perks? If those babies can't diaper themselves, then why should we, the God-fearing taxpayer, give them a hand? 

 

Such is Rush's opinion, apparently, on the DIAPER act, which will help low-income families be able to keep their babies in child care so that they (the parents) can continue to work hard to earn money and help pay their way through life. WORST THING EVER, according to Rush Limbaugh, who derided the project as giving "new meaning to pampering the poor."

 

I know, right? It's so awesome to be poor in America right now! No wonder so many people are trying it out!

Rush Limbaugh is the classic example of someone who "was born on third base and thought he hit a triple." He comes from a long line of wealthy white Americans, mostly lawyers. Put it this way: the Federal courthouse in his home town is named after his grandfather, who was a judge and House member.

 

Rush has always maintained a staunch blindness to the advantages that he received at the beginning of the game. He began his radio career at the tender age of 16, and one presumes that his family name helped open that door. He dropped out of college and became a disk jockey, not just because he had the skills (although he does have a lot of skill and determination) but also because he could.
