Oh Elton, Really?

You may have heard the reports that Elton John played at Rush Limbaugh's wedding over the weekend. Limbaugh was wed to his girlfriend, Kathryn Rogers, his fourth wife.  The wedding featured "giant bouquets of white roses," as well as all the conservative stars you would expect, from Karl Rove (shudder) to Sean Hannity.

Rush Limbaugh: An Army of Blecch

I haven't read the newest biography of Rush Limbaugh yet, but I have read a lot about it.  Since "Rush Limbaugh: An Army of One" has been all the talk lately, I decided to finally sit down and read Zev Chafets' eight part article in the New York Times which served as the basis for the biography.

Rush Tries To Distract Attention From The Oil Spill

You may have heard yesterday that tar balls were found on the beach in Key West.  This unsurprisingly caused a media frenzy.  By the time I heard about it, scientists had already identified them as being from a completely different oil spill.  End of story I would have thought, but I'm not Rush Limbaugh, am I?

Rush Says Environmentalists Did It; PEOPLE ACTUALLY BELIEVE HIM

The dismaying news just in from a public poll is that nine percent of Americans polled "buy into Rush Limbaugh's conspiracy theory that environmentalists may have been responsible for the spill in an effort to build support for their agenda."

How Does Rush Limbaugh Feel About Child Labor?

Child Laborer Making Bricks in PakistanChild Laborer Making Bricks in Pakistan

I recently watched a documentary about the child labor, and child slave labor, which goes into harvesting cocoa plantations for the chocolate industry.  One of the odd side effects of writing these articles is that when I see something I often wonder, "What would Rush Limbaugh think?"

Children being stolen from their families and sold into slave labor is pretty bad.  But I'm not so sure that Rush would agree.  Nor am I certain that he thinks we should do anything to stop it.

Rush Limbaugh Loves Oil Spills

Rush Limbaugh, in keeping with his position as America's Annoyingest Contrarian, insists on saying stupid-ass things about how awesome the Gulf Coast oil spill is.  Because it's funny!  SO funny.  Even though this spill could become one of our country's worst environmental catastrophes, and even though eleven people lost their lives in the initial explosion, and even though the slick directly threatens Palm Beach (where Rush has his primary residence) that can't stop the funny!

For certain values of "funny."

"They're trying to take away our salt shakers!"

Rush has been all over the salt reduction movement like, well, like salt on French fries.  He clearly considers the government request to put less sodium in processed foods to be one of the worst infringements of his personal liberty, like, ever.  Which considering that he's a privileged wealthy white male, may actually be true.

This is yet another case where I wonder if Rush even listens to himself talk.  Does he have the slightest idea what he's saying?  Sometimes I have to wonder.

Rush Saddened By Lack Of Common Decency

Wall Street: Where White Guys In Impeccable Suits Destroy The CountryWall Street: Where White Guys In Impeccable Suits Destroy The CountryWere you aware that black people are the enemy?  It's true according to Rush, who tut tuts over some random overinflated article about one specific crime in Oakland.  Rush spends an awful lot of time pointing fingers at black kids, and paraphrasing the article as "If you see a bunch of African-American or Latino youths, don't look 'em in the eye! In Oakland, don't speak to 'em. You might die!"
