Rush Limbaugh's Contraception Panic

Surprise! Most women would rather risk the side effects of birth control than the side effects of NO birth control

Limbaugh has been all up in high dudgeon over the ills of reproductive freedom lately, which is pretty ironic, coming from someone who:

A. Never has to worry about getting pregnant,

B. Has never had children,

C. Grew up as a privileged child from a privileged family, who has never experienced poverty,

D. Wants to reduce our health care spending, and

E. At least pays lip service to the idea of poor people becoming more self-sufficient and getting off welfare.

A Rush Limbaugh “ditto-head” is a self-explanatory term meaning that “I am a follower of Rush Limbaugh’s leadership on conservative issues.” Liberals demean “ditto-heads” as mindless robots with no pride of individualism.

I wonder at the fact that liberals are so naïve and lazy as to allow themselves to be wet clay in the formerly nicotine-stained hands of Rush Limbaugh.

Oh No! Obama Wants To Get Rid Of Our Nukes!

Rush Limbaugh is all in a tizzy again, this time because President Obama wants to reduce America's number of deployed of nuclear weapons by up to 80%. Rush calls this plan "staggering," and deliberately uses the words "regime" and obviously drops Obama's middle name - Hussein - into the conversation as well. What Rush is signaling here is that Obama is a man with foreign intentions, a double agent trying to weaken America by taking away its weapons.

Okay so one thing here is, Rush is ignoring the difference between our stockpiled weapons and our deployed weapons. Obama wants to reduce the number of deployed weapons, from the current number of about 1,550 to anywhere between 1,000 and 300 (they are still weighing the options). Our number of deployed weapons is a sub-set of our number of stockpiled weapons.

I truly enjoy and respect everything about Rush Limbaugh. Rush is a man who knows what he believes and says what he thinks. Both are critically important not only to his success, but the mental well-being of his listeners. Very seldom does Rush hesitate when expressing his opinion. Indeed, Limbaugh seems to make statements that are intentionally impolitic or insensitive just for the shock factor. I patently do not believe this to be correct.

Surprise! Rush Limbaugh Is Wrong About A Medical Issue!

It's hard to believe Rush would promote his anti-abortion agenda at the expense of facts, but there you are.

In talking about the Susan G. Komen Foundation/Planned Parenthood dust-up, Rush Limbaugh once again asserted the falsehood that "abortion is a leading cause of breast cancer." It isn't, and even those who once believed that it was, never believed that it was a "leading cause." But since when did Rush Limbaugh ever let the facts get in his way? Since never.

The abortion issue is an excellent example of where Limbaugh parts ways from his otherwise staunch Libertarianism and Tea Partyesque Freedom-loving persona. Because Limbaugh believes in personal freedom right up until it involves a woman and her uterus. At that point, Limbaugh will cheerfully allow - nay, demand - the government get involved and legislate things all to here and gone.

Anyone Who Supports Planned Parenthood Is A "Feminazi"

Or a "babe," which is even more trivializing

Rush Limbaugh is outraged that the Susan G. Komen foundation bowed to public pressure and agreed to not revoke funds to Planned Parenthood. Of course, in Rush Limbaugh's mind, Planned Parenhood is the evil puppet master orchestrating all of the public outcry. And they are an abortion factory.

Nowhere in Rush Limbaugh's worldview is the idea that regular normal people - i.e. not "Feminazis" - might support Planned Parenthood. Abortions are only a tiny portion of the services that Planned Parenthood provides. They offer affordable breast cancer screening, women's health exams, birth control, and many other services for all women. Planned Parenthood is particularly helpful to low-income women, since they offer their services on a sliding scale.
